September Special | Dr. Halle T.D. Johnson

Hello everyone! This month I was inspired by my clients, friends and all of the talented African American women I see on an everyday basis. I want to put a spotlight on one woman in particular in our history.

Halle Tanner Dillon Johnson was an African American physician. At 24, she decided that she wanted to enroll into medical school. She earned her M.D. in just 3 short years from the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1891. At that time, Booker T. Washington, founder of the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, was looking for a nominee to fill a teaching position. He wrote to the Woman's Medical College and Johnson gladly accepted the offer in August of 1891. However, before she could accept the position, she had to face the ultimate test, passing the Alabama State Medical Examination. She caused a huge stir just because she was sitting for the exam! After 10 strenuous days, she passed the exam becoming the first woman EVER to become a doctor! How dope is that?!!

I want to honor her by offering all of my beautiful ladies an all over color service and style for $91 (normally starting at $125)! This special will end October 13th, 2016. We as African American women have beat so many odds and we look amazing while doing so! Let's keep it going! Just use #DrJohnson91 in the notes section at when you secure your appointment!  Can't wait to see you all! #carijayy #blackgirlsrock #blackgirlmagic #chicagohair
